Syfy Truckin’ Towards an Ice Road Terror

default-featured-image

Those “Ice Road Truckers” you watch on the History Channel are used to contending with driving over frozen lakes and roads and other dangerous subzero conditions near the Arctic Circle. Syfy’s Ice Road Terror introduces a road hazard those brave truckers aren’t used to dealing with: an unfrozen prehistoric monster.

Ice Road Terror stars Brea Grant (“Heroes”), Ty Olsson (“Battlestar Galactica”), Dylan Neal (“Dawson’s Creek”), and Malcolm Stewart (“Kyle XY”). Terry Ingram, a filmmaker no stranger to making TV movies about unholy terrors having previously helmed Phantom Racer, Odysseus: Voyage to the Underworld, and Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story, directs from a script by Keith Shaw (Malibu Shark Attack, Phantom Racer).

Here’s the plot synopsis provided by sales distributor Content Film:

The treacherous Alaskan ice road becomes the setting for a deadly pursuit in this suspenseful thriller. Two truckers are preparing to traverse a dangerous path across frozen rivers to deliver equipment to a remote diamond mine. Unbeknownst to them, blasting at the mine has awakened a long-dormant prehistoric creature. Upon arrival at the mine they encounter unbelievable carnage, leaving them stranded in the wilderness with a hungry beast on their trail. Can they escape the terror of the ice road?

Canadian concept illustrator and storyboard artist David Ahn posted some concept art on his blog that he drew up for the prehistoric monster terrorizing the ice road truckers. How closely this will reflect the actual look of the monster in the film is something we’ll find out when Ice Road Terror premieres on Syfy later this year.
