Ah, nothing like being able to report new movements in the confusing world of Brian Yuzna…
Variety has announced that the Bride of Re-Animator/Rottweiller director has teamed with newcomer Notro Films to launch a Spanish production/distro label called Amazing! Pictures.
Yes, the exclamation point is part of the company’s title.
The deal will see Notro and Yuzna’s Magic Lantern, a production/distro house Yuzna launched with Salvador Torrens, taking 50% stake in future Amazing! output, which will range from straight-up horror to more obscure films. The first film they will put out in Spain will be Terry Gilliam’s Tideland (DVD review) with Greg McLean’s Rogue to follow this fall.
Does this mean more Yuzna output via his Halycon label (the LA-based production and sales house he launched over a year ago)? And really, how many damn companies does Yuzna need to have his hands in just to get some more horror films made? I guess whatever makes House of Re-Animator that much closer to reality is all right in my book…
