The Last Exorcism Heads into Opening Weekend with a Big Win at Toronto After Dark; I Spit on Your Grave Garners Multiple Awards

Toronto After Dark Film FestivalToronto After Dark Film Festival 2010 wrapped up eight thrilling nights of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult cinema last week, blazing new cinematic trails and setting new records. The fest’s award winners have been announced, and they are a well deserving group indeed!

The organizers of the 5th edition of TAD saw a new high of over 9,300 enthusiastic attendees at the fest, which ran August 13-20 at the legendary Bloor Cinema, over double the size of the event of just four years ago; and a record over 4,300 votes were cast by festival-goers to determine this year’s Audience Award Winners.

The Last Exorcism took home the Gold as both Best Feature Film (Audience Award) and Best Horror Film (Fans’ Choice Award). It further garnered Best Screenplay for Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, Best Leading Actor for Patrick Fabian, and Scariest Film (all Fans’ Choice Awards).

Also well represented was the I Spit on Your Grave redux, which won third place (Bronze) in the Best Feature Film (Audience Award) category, along with the following Fans’ Choice Awards: Best Director for Steven R. Monroe, Best Leading Actress for Sarah Butler, Best Kills, and Most Disturbing Film.
