There have been rumblings of a new Saw film ever since Saw 3D, the seventh and, at the time, final entry in the series hit theaters. As with the other entries, the ending left itself open to a sequel, only this time it was more of a path to an entirely new storyline, a new series of events that could expand beyond Jigsaw and enter into uncharted territories.

While Saw: Legacy, the upcoming eighth film in the series, has been confirmed for a while, we’ve all been waiting to hear details of any kind. Now the folk over at Bloody-Disgusting have found out some plot points that are definitely worth sharing.

Firstly, the film supposedly opens up with bodies appearing all over an undisclosed city, many of them bearing evidence of being subjected to unique torturous events. Police evidence suggests that it may be the work of John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, who was killed at the end of the 3rd film.

This brings us to the second big of news they found out which is that Tobin Bell, who played Kramer throughout the franchise, is coming back, although they say it’s in “…some capacity“. They also state that neither Costas Mandylor (Mark Hoffman) or Cary Elwes (Dr. Gordon) are coming back.

Per BD, the cast of Saw: Legacy features Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

Brothers Peter and Michael Spierig (Daybreakers, Predestination) direct from a script by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfiner (Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, Sorority Row).
