There’s no doubt about it – Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is one of Hollywood’s hottest prospects right now, and some really interesting names will be trying out for the title role. Interested in who they are? Yeah, we thought you would be.
According to Deadline New York the list of actors who’ll be screentesting for the role of young Abe Lincoln this week and next include Benjamin (Flags of Our Fathers) Walker, James (“Secret Diary of a Call Girl”) D’Arcy, Adrien (Predators) Brody, Oliver (Faster) Jackson-Cohen, Josh (Tell Tale) Lucas, and Timothy (The Crazies) Olyphant. That’s a pretty interesting mix of semi-knowns and unknowns, stage and screen vets, is it not?
Twentieth Century Fox is aiming at a June 22nd, 2012, release for the Tim Burton-produced horror adventure based upon Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name.
When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln.
Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.
