Release plans for James Wan’s Insidious were elaborated upon today, and Sony has confirmed that when the film debuts in April, it will open on 1,500-2,000 theaters across the country. Not too shabby!

With Insidious Wan reunites with Saw co-writer Leigh Whannell on the film, which follows a young family that makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further.

Look for Insidious (review here) in theatres on April 1st, 2011. And no, that’s not an April Fool’s joke!
