It is with the heaviest heart that I must write about the passing of Bill Paxton, who has died at the age of 61, according to the BBC. The site states that he was suffering from complications following a surgery, although they don’t write what it was for.

Paxton was no stranger to horror, starring in such films as Near Dark, Predator 2, Frailty (which he also directed), and, perhaps in his most famous role, Aliens, where he played Pvt. Hudson. Paxton apparently improvised the now infamous and highly quoted line “Game over, man! Game over!

His other numerous credits include Twister, Titanic, Club Dread, Edge of Tomorrow, Nightcrawler, and “Big Love,” for which he earned three Best Actor Golden Globe nominations. He currently co-stars in the new “Training Day” series on CBS.

Paxton, born May 17, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, is survived by his wife of 30 years, Louise Newbury, and their two children.

His family issued a statement:
A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.

Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends in this terribly sad time. Rest in peace, Bill. Thank you for everything you’ve given us.
