First Review from Scream 4 Test Screening Calls Film “Bloodiest of them All”

UPDATE: READ OUR REVIEW HERE!

We told you about the special test screening of Wes Craven’s Scream 4 out in Pittsburgh a few days ago, and now that it’s come to pass, an early review is in.

The reactions come from a viewer via the ScreamTrilogy.net fan site. Mind you, this is a review by someone who may very well have liked it because they’re a big Scream franchise fan so take it with a grain of salt. Still, the insight is interesting.

“It was phenomenal! What can I say. I was the first in line, and my friend and I waited in the line for about an hour and a half. They let a bunch of ethnic minorities in first, but once we got in, the excitement hit. This outshines the 3rd one easily. Definitely the bloodiest of all of them, but I feel like they’ll edit some of it down. An unrated DVD would be nice to have though. All the acting was superb. Not one flaw. The opening scene was hilarious and brutal. Definitely a lot of great Williamson writing. The characters all felt very genuine. Gale was back to her bitchy self, and had a bunch of great one-liners. The music seemed to be recycled Beltrami music from 1-3 but it worked well. The ending was insanity. Easily the best of all the series, in my opinion, anyways. It didn’t end when I thought it would, and they even commented on that in the movie. The crowd experience was great, and everybody was totally into it. Cannot WAIT to see this in theaters come April. Hopefully they don’t change anything. Loved it loved it loved it.”

Those damned lucky “ethnic minorities” – they always get the good stuff first! While outshining Scream 3 isn’t exactly a Herculean task, we remain very hopeful that Wes will once again deliver the goods. The man is due.

Look for Scream 4 in theatres on April 15th, 2011, and to stay on top of things, be sure to follow @wescraven on Twitter.

Synopsis
“Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.”

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

I love the awkward racist comment that just randomly appears.

    • PelusaMG

Yeah… that is a little random – and irrelevant! Why not say you waited for the people in wheelchairs to go in first, or something more appropriate?

      • Vanvance1

Hades, the PC police are out in force today!

You guys will go after anything, won’t you?

        • Uncle Creepy

LOL You have to admit … the remark was a bit random wasn’t it?

          • Pestilence

It was a little jarring, LOL. Bloomin’ ethnic minorities! Sheesh!

  • Terminal

But is it GOOD? I don’t care how bloody it is. I’d love to hear a “review” from an objective party. Not someone from a Scream fansite.

“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

What I learned (and already knew) that Kirsten Bell is way hotter than Anna Paquin.

I kind of enjoyed the SCOOBY DOO-ishness of SCREAM 3. It sure beat the hell out of SCREAM 2.

Little disappointed by this “review.” I was hoping for some meat, but this doesn’t offer anything in the realm of plot, characters, pacing, or kills. Everything is so vague, it could have been written by someone who had never seen the film.

Fingers still hesitantly crossed that this will be fun.

I always find I am more interested in that, “Lightning kills entire soccer team during game” link below, than I am with anything to do with this movie. In saying that, let’s hope this really is a good movie, and yes… bettering “Scream 3″ is not exactly going to be hard – really!
