Syfy has a gift for all of us this Christmas: four exclusive clips from Mega Python vs. Gatoroid. Warring gargantuan reptiles: truly the gift that keeps on giving.
Mega Python vs. Gatoroid: A smackdown so titanic it could not happen until Syfy’s and The Asylum’s wonder twin powers combined. A January 29th premiere date has been set.
Starring Eighties pop singers Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, both survivors of previous Asylum “mega” movies, in this tale a fanatical animal rights activist unleashes giant pythons into the Florida Everglades, forcing a distraught park ranger to fight back by feeding alligators steroids to eventually create one stupendous “gatoroid”.
The first clip appears to be Tiffany’s Emmy “For Your Consideration” reel. Just 1:28 of the former teen pop singer turned “mega” actress doing Susan Lucci melodramatics to the max as she repeatedly screams “They ruined everything!” at the old lady from “Desperate Housewives”.
The second clip is 30 seconds of Tiffany and the old “Desperate Housewives” lady feeding the gators steroids.
Hang on a sec. The two things not seen in either of these first two clips are a mega python or a gatoroid. I feel like I just got a lump of coal in my stocking.
Wait! Santa? Is that you, Santa? Have you brought me herpetological horrors? Christmas is saved!
In the third clip Syfy gives a glimpse of an angry gatoroid (i.e., a giant alligator with more steroids pumped into it than the entire 1987 World Wrestling Federation roster combined) snapping at Debbie Gibson as she cowers inside a cave while Tiffany performs a dramatic recreation of the finale to The Giant Gila Monster.
The fourth and final clip finally gives us a glimpse of the mega python, or at least a mega python, not necessarily the actual mega python that will fight the gatoroid.
Keep in mind as you watch all four of these clips that Mega Python vs. Gatoroid was directed by Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary I & II) and not Jim Wynorski.
January 29th on Syfy, baby!
