Exclusive: Adi Shankar Talks Castlevania Series for Netflix

Once we announced yesterday that a new series based on the video game Castlevania is heading to Netflix, it didn’t take long for the news to spread like a wildfire. So we quickly got in touch with producer Adi Shankar to get an early look into the direction the series is headed.
He couldn’t say much, obviously, but what he did have for us has us very excited.
“I’m a gamer. I’m a comic book guy and I’m a video game guy. It’s amazing to see all of the comic book tales beyond just origin stories get treated with respect. Video game adaptations are where comic book adaptations were in the mid-Eighties. We still need our Blade moment, our X-Men moment, our Spider-Man, and then our Avengers moment. ‘Castlevania’ will be the best video game adaptation to date.”

Inspired by the classic video game series, “Castlevania” is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar.
