Some more disturbing news from the world of Cannes floated in from various sources yesterday; yet more fodder for the Weinsteins to have a monopoly on our genre for reasons still not 100% clear.
The Brothers Weinstein have acquired the rights to Inside, the French horror film from Alexandre Bustillo. Variety just gave it an overwhelmingly positive review, calling it a restart to the French gore genre with an over-the-top sadism sure to please fans of schlock horror.
The film is about a vengeful psycho terrorizing a pregnant woman, who is still grieving the recent death of her boyfriend. No word on when or how The Weinsteins will release the film but I, for one, am sick of doing all these stories about their acquisitions and have no follow-up for months. Just put the damn things out, already!
