The guy who unleashed Hellboy upon the world has started an all-new story arc featuring another of his famous horror stars. Yep, Mike Mignola created Lord Baltimore alongside horror writer Christopher Golden for the book Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire, with the character later appearing in subsequent comics.

Lord Baltimore’s latest outing is called The Red Kingdom and finds him facing his greatest challenge yet as he goes up against a great evil that threatens to consume the entire world. Mignola and Golden returned to script the new series, with Peter Bergting providing artwork.

Issue #1 is available now, and Dark Horse has created a pretty badass animated trailer which shows off the vampire-infested apocalypse.

Synopsis:
Lord Baltimore is missing. The Red King—evil incarnate—is taking over the world. Baltimore’s team has been driven apart, with some of them dying on the frontlines while others are in hiding.

Since the day he set out for revenge on the vampire who killed his family, Baltimore’s fight has gotten bigger than he’d ever imagined, but what role will he take as evil finally threatens to consume the world?
