It took about three weeks, but finally the uncensored version of 30 Seconds to Mars’ horror and sex themed short film “Hurricane” is available. Just beware that the video is decidedly NSFW due to the added graphic images of the director’s cut.
Watch as the band fight their way through evil characters of the film known as The Gimps as well as a mysterious man that appears to be keeping a deep secret. As frontman Jared Leto (who also directed the short film under his pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins) has described it, “Hurricane” is a “meditation on the violence of sex and the sex of violence. The video is a surrealistic dream, nightmare, fantasy through the streets of New York City at night where the people and places that are normally reserved for the darker recesses of this town are kind of brought into the light and celebrated. It’s like a big, giant art opening really where the freaks have taken over the town.” Viewer discretion is advised.
In addition, if you’re a big enough fan of the band to want to spend New Year’s Eve with them, 30 Seconds To Mars will be ringing in 2011 on the Las Vegas strip with a concert at the Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort. For the band this is an opportunity to rally their most dedicated fans around the world, The Echelon, to celebrate together what has been an incredible 2010 and to bring in the new year with a unforgettable night of music, art, and spectacle. Here’s a taste of what you can expect according to Leto:
“For New Year’s we’re going to do a ‘Hurricane’-themed night, which I think is appropriate now that this little film has come out. It’ll be a fun kind of ball, inviting everybody to dress up as their favorite characters from the film and [add] a slightly S&M, B&D vibe to the night.”
