A Video Preview of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries Marathon

As mentioned previously, The CW has announced plans for a special marathon week featuring “The Vampire Diaries” starting December 13, and now we have the full schedule along with a video preview put together especially for the event.

The Vampire DiariesThis week-long event offers fans the opportunity to catch up with Season Two of “Diaries” and allows the uninitiated the chance to get into one of TV’s breakout hits. Airing two episodes each night from Monday, December 13, through Friday, December 17 (8:00-10:00p.m. ET/PT), The CW will rebroadcast the first 10 episodes of the second season of its addictive hit “The Vampire Diaries” across its entire primetime schedule that week, beginning with this season’s explosive premiere. “The Vampire Diaries” is The CW’s most watched and highest rated series among adults 18-34 this season.

  • MONDAY, DECEMBER 13 – “The Return” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    KATHERINE HAS RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE — Picking up on the same night as last season’s finale, Elena (Nina Dobrev) arrives home to a nightmare as she discovers Uncle John’s (David Anders) and Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) fate. At the hospital Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) is comforted by Matt (Zach Roering), Bonnie (Katerina Graham), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) while she waits to hear if Caroline (Candice Accola) will survive the car accident. After a confusing conversation with Elena about the night’s events, Damon is the first to realize that Katherine (also played by Nina Dobrev) has returned. Katherine’s arrival sends Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon on a path to find out what she wants, why she’s back, and how much of a threat she is to the people they love. Meanwhile, still reeling from his father’s death, Tyler (Michael Trevino) is surprised when his charming and mysterious uncle, Mason Lockwood (guest star Taylor Kinney, “Trauma”), arrives to console the family. Sara Canning also stars. J. Miller Tobin directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (#201).

    “Brave New World” (900-100 p.m. ET)

    THE CARNIVAL FROM HELL — When a confused and desperate Caroline (Candice Accola) leaves the hospital and joins her friends at the Mystic Falls Carnival, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) wants to take immediate action, but Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) come to Caroline’s defense. Matt (Zach Roerig) is completely mystified by Caroline’s behavior but still tries to tell her about his feelings for her. Damon has suspicions about Tyler’s Uncle Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney) and uses Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) volatile personality in an attempt to get Mason to reveal his secret. Upset with everything going on around her, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) takes her anger out on Damon. Steven R. McQueen also stars. John Dahl directed the episode written by Brian Young (#202).

  • TUESDAY, DECEMBER 14 – “Bad Moon Rising” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    STEFAN FACES A NEW DANGER — Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and Alaric (Matt Davis) take a road trip to Duke University and search through Isobel’s research on folklore and paranormal phenomena to see if they can uncover any clues to the mystery surrounding the Lockwood family. Isobel’s former student, Vanessa (guest star Courtney Ford, “Dexter”), offers to guide them through the research and ends up getting quite an education herself. Stefan (Paul Wesley) comes face to face with a terrifying new danger in the woods, and Tyler (Michael Trevino) makes a shocking discovery about Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney). Steven R. McQueen, Katerina Graham, Sara Canning, Candice Accola, and Zach Roerig also star. Patrick Norris directed the episode written by Andrew Chambliss (#203).

    “Memory Lane” (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)

    DAMON MAKES A DANGEROUS ENEMY — Stefan (Paul Wesley) takes drastic measures to find out the real reason Katherine (Nina Dobrev) has returned to Mystic Falls and is shocked when she reveals new secrets about what really happened in 1864. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tries a new tactic to resolve his issues with Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney), but it proves costly. Tyler (Michael Trevino) pushes Mason to tell him the truth about the Lockwoods. Finally, when Katherine delivers an ultimatum, Stefan and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are left with very few options. Sara Canning, Candice Accola, Zach Roerig, and Matt Davis also star. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#204).

  • WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15 – “Kill or Be Killed” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    MASON’S PAST IS REVEALED — Tyler (Michael Trevino) learns more about the Lockwood family curse from Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney). Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) argue over how to handle Mason. Elena (Nina Dobrev) tries to keep Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) from becoming more involved with the Lockwood mystery, but Jeremy makes an effort to hang out with Tyler. Mason gives Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) some startling information, leading to a night of violence, confession, and heartbreak. Candice Accola also stars. Jeff Woolnough directed the episode written by Mike Daniels (#205).

    “Plan B” (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)

    KATHERINE CHOOSES A NEW VICTIM — Despite Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) efforts to keep Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) safe, he offers to help Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) deal with Katherine (Nina Dobrev). Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) and Caroline (Candice Accola) share a few rare moments of quality mother/daughter time. Bonnie (Katerina Graham) accidentally discovers new information about Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney) and shares it with Stefan (Paul Wesley), leading Damon to take matters into his own hands. Sara Canning and Zach Roerig also star. John Behring directed the episode written by Elizabeth Craft and Sara Fain (#206).

  • THURSDAY, DECEMBER 16 – “Masquerade” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    DEATH AT THE MASQUERADE BALL — Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) decide on a new plan to deal with Katherine (Nina Dobrev) at the Lockwood’s masquerade ball. Katherine calls on an old friend, Lucy (guest star Natashia Williams), to attend the ball with her. Bonnie (Katerina Graham), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), and Alaric (Matt Davis) all do what they can to help Stefan and Damon, but Katherine has a surprise planned that none of them could foresee. Things take an ugly turn when Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) start doing shots with their friends. Sarah Canning also stars. Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (#207).

    “Rose” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    AN ANCIENT PRESENCE IN MYSTIC FALLS — Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) come to Elena’s assistance and, in the process, learn surprising new information about people, vampires, and events in the distant past. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) helps Bonnie (Katerina Graham) after she casts a difficult and exhausting spell, and Caroline (Candice Accola) does what she can to make things easier for Tyler (Michael Trevino). Finally, Stefan and Damon reach a new understanding. Liz Friedlander directed the episode written by Brian Young (#208).

  • FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17 – “Katerina” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    KATHERINE’S PAST IS REVEALED — Elena (Nina Dobrev) puts herself in a dangerous position as she searches for the truth about Katherine’s past and what her own future may hold. Knowing that Stefan (Paul Wesley) would never agree to her plan, Elena swears Caroline (Candica Accola) to secrecy. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) uses a new-found confidant to help him try to discover the real purpose and power of the moonstone. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) meet Luka (guest star Bryton James), a new student with a surprising family history. J. Miller Tobin directed the episode written by Andrew Chambliss (#209).

    “The Sacrifice” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

    JEREMY MAKES A DANGEROUS MISTAKE — Elena (Nina Dobrev) decides to take matters into her own hands and offers a tempting incentive to Rose (guest star Lauren Cohan) for her help. When things take an unexpected turn, however, Rose calls on Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to deal with the plan Elena has set in motion. Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) reckless attempt to help Bonnie (Katerina Graham) retrieve the moonstone lands him in a life-threatening position and forces Stefan (Paul Wesley) to put himself in danger. Bonnie and Luka (guest star Bryton James) form a closer connection. Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows Caroline (Candice Accola) the Lockwood cellar, where she makes a discovery that leaves them both terrified. Sara Canning, Zach Roerig, and Matt Davis also star. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#210).
