Saw 3D: The Final Chapter Hitting Blu-ray and DVD in January!

Say what you want about Lionsgate’s Saw franchise; there’s just no denying its popularity and influence on the horror genre today, and its big curtain call is getting ready to hit home video really soon!

From the Press Release
Game over. The final chapter of the most popular horror franchise in history comes home as Lionsgate releases the film in a variety of formats for the home viewing audience. SAW The Final Chapter will be available in a Blu-ray Combo Pack (two discs including Blu-ray and DVD – as well as a code to download a Digital Copy on iTunes). The film will also be available as a 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital Download, and On Demand January 25th, 2011.

Fans see the game come full circle with SAW veteran Kevin Greutert (Director, SAW VI; Editor, SAW I-V) at the helm of the bloodiest and deadliest film yet. Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, SAW) returns as Dr. Gordon and joins the cast of Tobin Bell (the SAW series), Costas Mandylor (Sinners & Saints), Betsy Russell (Chain Letter), and Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints). Both the Blu-ray Combo Packs and DVD allow audiences inside the film series with director and producer commentary, deleted scenes, and music videos. The Blu-ray versions go further with a special featurette, “52 Ways to Die”, recounting the traps from all the SAW films and more.

In the seventh and final installment, SAW The Final Chapter leaves no question unanswered. As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s (Bell) brutal legacy, a group of the killer’s survivors gather to seek the support of a self-help guru. However, fellow survivor Bobby Dagen’s (Flanery) dark secrets unleash a whole new wave of terror.

  1. The unrated cut’s only on Blu-ray? Well, those floppy studio dicks have only got themselves to blame if people buy neither the DVD nor the Blu-ray and resort to downloading a copy of the unrated cut because it’s not available on their preferred format…

  2. Enjoyed the film for what is was. Wasn’t the best of the series. nor the worst. Not digging that cover art, though. And this entire notion of keeping the unrated edition specifically to Blu-Ray to jack up sales of that format just plain sucks.

Fortunately,I liked the theatrical cut just fine. The gore quotient in the R-rated version is pretty damned high, so go fuck yourselves Lionsgate. I’m getting the DVD. You know where you can stick your Blu-Ray copy. :)
