Rest in Peace – Leslie Nielsen

Rest in Peace - Leslie NielsenThe world today just became a lot less funny. It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we report the legendary Leslie Nielsen is no longer with us.

Though primarily known for his comedic work, Nielsen appeared in such horror film classics as Creepshow, Day of the Animals, and Prom Night; great genre TV shows such as “Thriller”, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, and “Tales of Tomorrow”; and of course his many horror spoofs including Repossessed, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Scary Movie 3, and most recently Stan Helsing.

The news was broken today by Superstation CJOB out of Manitoba, who report that Nielsen has passed away in a hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 84 due to complications from pneumonia.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to extend our deepest of condolences to all of Leslie’s friends, family, and constituents. Thank you, sir, for all of the memories as well as all of those wonderful smiles. You will be sincerely missed.

    To All,

Let’s raise a glass to a true gentleman.

Leslie knew comedy and, lucky for us, he knew horror. Nobody embraced the E.C. feel of Creepshow better than Leslie. His laugh while watching the monitors in is pure Horror Gold.

So here’s to a fine actor, who I always wished did more.

Y’know, I hear about David Carradine or some of the others we’ve lost in recent years and I’m sad, but that’s about the height of it. When I found out about Leslie Nielsen, though, my eyes actually welled up. He will be sorely missed.
The opening sentence of this article sums it up perfectly: This world just got a lot less funny. RIP Leslie. Thank you for bringing us so much joy.

One of the best. I’m truly going to miss him.

Guess I’m going to be doing a Police Squad marathon this week.
