Demonlogy of Desire premiere set!The folks behind Rue Morgue Cinema just sent out word that Rodrigo Gudino’s follow-up to “The Eyes of Edward James” (review), the 22-minute short “The Demonology of Desire”, will have it’s world premiere at the 2007 Worldwide Short Film Festival, which runs this June 12-17 in Toronto.

“The Demonology of Desire is a significant departure from my previous movie” Rodrigo said in a press release, “and I hope it speaks to a wide audience of not just genre fans, but fans of subversive cinema.” Indeed the synopsis sounds like you couldn’t get much further from the relative straight-forward narrative that was “Eyes…”, as you can read below;

The Demonology of Desire tells the story of Ramona, a unique girl with a strange idea of what love is. One night before going to bed, Ramona makes a powerful wish, a wish that is seemingly answered the next day by Eric, a young boy who has no idea the dark, fantastical depths that love can go. Equal parts fatal fable, romantic thriller and artcore horror, The Demonology of Desire is a love story… with a caustic heart.

Hopefully we can bring you a review of the film soon, but for now check out the Worldwide Short Film Festival site for more details and to see the other films making their debuts this year.
