The Circus of the Dead Is Coming to Town

After what’s felt like a lifetime, Billy Pon’s Circus of the Dead is finally seeing the light of day. Rue Morgue reports that the long-awaited shocker will arrive on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video on February 10, with the Blu-ray slated for a March release.

The film, which stars Bill Oberst, Jr., Farrish Randall, Chanel Ryan, Roger Edwards, and Brad Potts, arrives on the back of a wave of momentum, having garnered buzz on the indie scene for nearly two years.

And let me tell you something, my precious gore whores: It lives up to the hype. This is the Okada vs. Omega of upcoming indie horror releases.

Mark my words: Circus of the Dead is a film horror hounds are going to eat up like a custard pie to the face. It’s funny, menacing, unhinged, nihilistic, and unabashedly sadistic; yet, somewhere in its black heart there’s a moral story, albeit a very warped one.

Of course, this isn’t a film for the faint-hearted; but if you like your scare fare with some snarl, bite, and a lethal injection of gallows humor, this will hit the spot just nicely.

Synopsis:
Family man Don’s visit to an old, rundown Big Top circus and chance encounter with a nihilistic group of clowns leaves him fighting for his life and the lives of those he loves. As Don becomes drawn deeper into lead clown Papa Corn’s games, he comes closer to the edge of reason and sanity. Armed with guns, knives, and a ’68 Camaro, the clowns lead Don on an all-night crime spree through oil-soaked West Texas. Papa Corn’s wild ride brings blood, gore, and mayhem to all he encounters.
