Complete Lineup for the 2010 South African HorrorFest

The full lineup for the 6th Annual South African HorrorFest has been announced, and it’s chock full of classic and rare movies, brand new indie productions, loads of short films, literature, music, Halloween dress-up, and killer giveaways.

First, though, before the Fest even starts (it runs 28 October – 5 November 2010 at The Labia Theatre, Orange Street, Cape Town, ZA), there are a couple of warm-up events:

WED 20 OCT
8:15pm: MACHETE (special pre-release S.A. premiere screening of Robert Rodriguez’s ass-kicking new Grindhouse flick)

WED 27 OCT
BLOODY PARCHMENT Live Reading Event with Local Authors
6pm @ The Book Lounge, Corner of Roeland & Buitenkant Streets, Cape Town (no charge)

8:15pm: THE EXORCIST (Free Opening Screening of this legendary classic)

FRI 29 OCT
9:30pm: SHADOW REALM Part 1 – Short Film Collection (1st of 3 feature length short film collections totaling over 6 hrs)

SAT 30 OCT
2pm: SPARROW (new Polish / UK slasher production)
4pm: MANIAC (notorious 1980 shocker)
6:15pm: Mini-feature Double Bill – OPSTANDELSEN & BON BONS ROUGE incl. drinking game (45 min x 2)
9:30pm: KAALO (1st ever Indian creature movie – Producer set to fly in to attend the screening)

SUN 31 OCT
12noon: TRIPPIN’ (funny weed-infused slice of madness)
2pm: ZOMBIE WOMEN OF SATAN (sexy, gory & gut-munchingy hilarious)
4pm: SHADOW REALM Part 2 – Short Film Collection (2nd chapter of amazing short films from around the world)
8:30pm: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Makabra Ensemble live soundtrack performance + Halloween dress-up competition with an Xbox as first prize)

MON 1 NOV
6:15pm: CARMILLA HYDE (Australian-made psychological thriller by South African expatriate)
8:15pm: THE BEAR’S SKIN – La Peau D’Lours (intense French film of extreme survival)

TUES 2 NOV
6:15pm: WALKING DISTANCE (Sci-Fi/Horror featuring actors from Paranormal Activity, Phantasm, Transformers, Friday The 13th)
8:15pm: THE TAINT (crazy, gory, extreme – in the vein of Bad Taste)

WED 3 NOV
6:15pm: THE DEVIL BAT (Bela Lugosi classic)
8:15pm: ZONE OF THE DEAD (1st ever Serbian zombie movie starring Ken Foree / Director may fly in to attend screening)

THUR 4 NOV
6:15pm: THE HEAD (1959 German mad scientist flick)
8:15pm: SHADOW REALM Part 3 – Short Film Collection (last short film chapter + winner announcements, incl. best local prize sponsored by VISUAL IMPACT & HD HUB)

FRI 5 NOV
8:15pm: ORLOK THE VAMPIRE – 3D (3D rendition of the classic 1921 Nosferatu – 3D glasses supplied)
9:30pm: LOVECATS Animal Charity Concert & HORRORFEST After Party, feat. TERMINATRYX, COLD HAND CHEMISTRY, WITNESS TO WOLVES, BLACK ORCHID BURLESQUE
