Grimm Up North 2010: Opening Night Price Reduction and Short Film Selections

The 2010 Grimm Up North film festival, which runs October 28-31 in Manchester, England, is quickly approaching, and because they want fans to experience both of their great opening night events, they’ve just released a special reduced price ticket along with the full list of short films screening over the weekend.
The new ticket price of just £11.50 covers both LAST MAN ON EARTH (the classic Vincent Price version of I AM LEGEND with live music from Animat) and OUTCAST, the northern premiere of new British horror starring James Nesbit (The Deep, Coldfeet), Karen Gillan (Dr Who) and Kate Dickie (Red Road). Members of the cast and crew will be there to answer questions. The screening starts at 7:00 pm, and this will also get you into the after show party at Odder bar! A bargain! Click here for tickets. Short Film Info: From Edgar Allan Poe to Lovecraft, from MR James to Grimm Guest Ramsey Campbell, much of the most disturbing work in the field of horror and the supernatural has been done in the short story. And so it is with film. Short films are where filmmakers take the most risks, where they push the envelope until it tears. We’re rightly proud of all of the fearsome headline features we’ll be traumatising our loyal Grimmlins with this year, but we’ve also got a startling selection of supporting shorts to send you right over the edge. There’s cannibalism in the Wild West in DEAD BONES and in modern suburbia in THE AUBURN HILLS BREAKDOWN. We’ve original takes on zombies from France, Italy, and, er, Salford, in CABIN OF THE DEAD, BETANIA, and CACTUS SELVES, and some urban legends come disturbingly true in THE HAIRY HANDS and THE TRAVELING ARTIST. A young girl goes in search of the man who killed her in the eerie STAND AND DELIVER, while a man struggles to overcome a horrific disease in CONTAINMENT. Elsewhere, BLOCK and CLICK both suggest that the old dark house is not half as creepy a location for a ghost story as the modern urban landscape, there’s witchcraft in a Scandinavian forest in RANDAJA, a werewolf in jail in THE FURRED MAN, and a deadly DVD in VISION. Something for every palate, these are appetisers for the main course that are guaranteed to bite back.
