Bad news for us all who have been eagerly anticipating Guillermo del Toro’s take on the Seventies TV scare-a-thon Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Looks like we’re gonna be waiting a while longer to see it.

According to Deadline Hollywood Miramax has delayed the release of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, the Guillermo del Toro remake directed by Troy Nixey, and starring Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, and Jack Thompson. The flick was originally slated for release in January but was bumped until the new owner, Filmyard, take over for Miramax.

For those unfamiliar Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark centers on a young girl, portrayed by Bailee Madison, who’s sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.
