Arrow Releasing The Driller Killer in the US Next Month as Both Limited Edition SteelBook and Standard Dual Format Blu-ray/DVD

MVD Entertainment Group, distributor of Arrow Video in the US, has three great new titles heading our way in December. We already told you about their biggest release of the month, Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box Limited Edition Trilogy, a limited edition run of 10,000 deluxe box sets, as well as Creepshow 2 in both a Limited Edition Blu-ray and Standard Edition Blu-ray package.
So, what’s number 3? None other than Arrow’s landmark release of The Driller Killer as both a Limited Edition SteelBook and a standard Dual Format Blu-ray/DVD. It’s hitting our shores on December 13th (a bit later than the UK’s late November release date).
Forget Taxi Driver, The Warriors, and The New York Ripper… The Driller Killer is the definitive look at NYC’s underbelly, a slasher that is as much at home in the arthouse as it is the grindhouse.

In a career that has encompassed such controversial classics as Ms. 45, Bad Lieutenant, and Welcome to New York, none of Abel Ferrara‘s films have quite managed to match the shock, extremity, and downright notorious nature of The Driller Killer.
Ferrara plays struggling artist Reno, a man pushed to the edge by the economic realities of New York living in the late Seventies and the No Wave band practicing in the apartment below. His grip on reality soon begins to slip, and he takes to stalking the streets with his power tool in search of prey…
