Psycho Santa Sint Knows the Dutch are Naughty

How do you think conservative culture warriors that rant and rave every year about the so-called “War on Christmas” are going to react when they find out about this new wave of dangerous Santa movies coming out of Europe and Scandinavia of late? For that matter, how do you say Silent Night, Deadly Night in Dutch? Just say Sint, I suppose.
Opening this December in the Netherlands is Sint, a horrifying new spin on the legend of St. Nick from Dutch director Dick Maas (The Lift, Amsterdamned). His take on the man we know as Santa has him galloping on a horse and giving the Jason Voorhees treatment to everyone he deems naughty (i.e., anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path).
Saint Nicholas is not the good-hearted children’s friend people think he is. In reality he is a cruel, bloodthirsty bishop who, whenever there’s a full moon on December 5, will try to slaughter as many children as possible.

Perhaps most surprising is how such a far-fetched premise looks to have been crafted into a slick, atmospheric, action-packed slasher flick. I’m very much looking forward to seeing it.
