Tim Burton has his main cast in place for the upcoming expansion of his original 1984 short Frankenweenie, in which a re-animated pooch returns to his master and all kinds of hijinks ensue.
According to Deadline, Burton has set Winona Ryder to play the role of Elsa and Martin Landau to provide the voice of Mr. Rzykruski. Ryder starred for Burton in Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. Landau won the Academy Award for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Burton’s Ed Wood.
Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara take on the voices of multiple characters each. Short plays Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor’s Dad, and Mr. Bergermeister. O’Hara voices Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor’s Mom, and Gym Teacher. Short appeared in Burton’s Mars Attacks! O’Hara appeared in Burton’s Beetlejuice and provided a voice in Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas.
