Rest in Peace: Ted V. Mikels

Another genre legend has set sail for the hereafter as The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that cult filmmaker Ted V. Mikels has passed on at age 87.

Mikels had been under hospice care in his home for about three months — and had been battling health problems for about eight years, according to John Cornett, a longtime colleague and caregiver. “He lived a good life — 87½ years,” said Mikels’ daughter, Cherisse Gomez of Las Vegas. “He did have a goal, which was 104. He always would tell people he was going to live to 104. … I wish he would have lived to 104.

Mikles brought us such gems as The Corpse Grinders, The Astro-Zombies, Blood Orgy of the She-Devils, Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, Ten Violent Women, and dozens more.

At this time we here at Dread Central would like to take a moment to offer our sincerest of condolences to Ted’s friends, family, and constituents. You made your mark, sir. Rest easy, and thank you for all the smiles and chills.
