Scream Returning for a Shortened Season 3

While MTV’s “Scream” was admittedly much better in its second season than its first, we’re not sure anyone has been clamoring for a third; but hot on the heels of the news that next week will be bringing us a two-hour “Scream” movie, today the network announced the show’s renewal.

We can expect six new episodes to premiere next year, and the October 18th special (learn more here) will plant seeds (and some jawdropping mysteries) for Season 3.

As for who will be running the show’s third season, per Deadline, that’s a bit up in the air. Michael Gans and Richard Register, who were brought in as showrunners at the beginning of the second season, replacing Season 1 showrunners Jill Blotevogal and Jaime Paglia, are gone. A search is now under way for their replacement so stay tuned!
