Ridley Scott Looking to Gemma Arterton for Alien Prequel? If there’s one thing we know about the proper Alien sequels, it is that Lieutenant Ripley kicked ass in every one of them and the character made famous by Sigourney Weaver has taken her rightful place as one of the strongest female characters in film history. So with two 3D prequels to Alien in the works, will director Ridley Scott be looking for another badass babe to pave the way for Ripley? You betcha!

According to The Playlist The Disappearance of Alice Creed‘s Gemma Arterton (pictured right) recently met with Scott after he saw and loved her in the aforementioned film to discuss a role in the new prequels. “Ridley Scott saw ‘Alice Creed’ and loved it. He wants me to meet for Aliens: The Remake or something,” Arterton told the paper. Though it’s still early, look for more on this soon.

Set 30 years before the 1979 original, so with no room for Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, the prequels will explore the origins of the deadly aliens.
