It’s been a while since we heard from Andrew Allen and Andy Lalino of Film Ranch International, the filmmakers behind indie project Brainjacked, but to help promote the film’s DVD release earlier this week, they’ve come up with the world’s most horrifying infomercial. Check it out!
What makes this infomercial so unusual? – It’s just as terrifying as the movie itself! The Brainjacked DVD infomercial utilizes footage used in the movie … from wild chases to sexy sirens to splitting skulls … along with graphics and voice-over narration like those normally featured in traditional infomercials. The result is the wildest infomercial ever, now spreading virally and posted on GetBrainjacked.com, the direct-to-consumer website created for the film. This dynamic duo believes the persuasive, direct-to-consumer approach of infomercials gives ALL independent filmmakers new power to sell and distribute movies.
Director Allen tells us, “One other unique aspect to the infomercial is that along with the film, purchasers receive scenes of the movie in separate digital files. This allows them to re-edit the film themselves. It’s kind of like a wikimovie for our increasingly open source society. Down the line we plan to host Brainjacked re-edit and mash-up contests. We think it’s cool, different, and fun. It’s also a great chance for our negative critics to put their money where their mouths are and make a better Brainjacked than we did. We challenge them!”
