Twisted tries their hand at internet marketingBecause it’s Twisted Pictures, the production house behind the Saw franchise, something like this might do better than expected, but man, I hate the gimmicky-ness of it.

Variety reports that Twisted has teamed with Break.com to produce their first horror film that will have its premiere online, tentatively called The Internet Killer (ugh). Once complete, the film will debut online in 3-minute segments every day until the story is complete. Twisted said they’re approaching it just like any other feature, save for the fact that something interesting has to happen every 3 minutes in order to get people to come back the next day, and the film will definitely be hitting DVD once its Internet run is done.

I guess you really eliminate all the worry of how well your film will do opening weekend if you’re not competing with films in theaters, which hopefully will allow them to pour more of the budget into effects and getting a good cast. Their biggest challenge, of course, is to keep the whole film interesting long enough to keep people coming back.

Though there’s no director in place yet, Twisted is working from one of the many scripts they’ve had in development with hopes of having the film in the can by the end of summer. Break.com is currently a home for user-generated video aimed primarily at young men. They plan to significantly upgrade their steaming quality by the time the film is ready to debut.
