Today is a good day in the indie film world. For the past few years the independent horror market has been flooded with cheap attempts to grab our wallets. At every turn at the local video-mart, there are at least 50 random zombie films, each shot in digital and managing to suck more than anything Uwe could have ever squeezed out.
Like I said, there is a bright beacon cutting through the crap-fog today because the same company, Unearthed Films, responsible for the perfect Rock & Rule DVD has just acquired the domestic and international distribution rights for the indie film Mercy.
Mercy spins the tale of an ex-con who gets out of jail and attempts to lead a normal life. Problems arise, however, as every time he goes to sleep, he awakens missing a piece of his body. The film is littered with surreal images, prostitutes and preachers.
In other good news a theatrical premiere for Mercy will be held at the Loft Cinema in Tucson, Arizona, from June 22nd through June 28th.
