Scream 4 an Epic Length Undertaking?

Given that it has taken so long for a fourth Scream film to come to life, we’ve been hoping that Wes Craven and company will really hit it out of the park with this latest entry. Fans are praying for an epic film, and right now it looks as if that’s just what they’ll get. At least length-wise.

Per The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, “The script, according to insiders, is 140 pages long. The general rule of thumb is that one page equals one minute of screen time; 120 pages [is] already long by horror movie standards so expect some serious cutting (no pun intended) in the editing room. Also, the movie was originally scheduled to have a 42-day shoot, with the last day occurring on Labor Day Weekend. Now, the actors have having their stays extended to the new wrap date, September 24th.”

Interesting. Scream 4 stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Anthony Anderson, and Marielle Jaffe with confirmed cameos by Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell. Look for it in theatres on April 15th, 2011, and to stay on top of things, be sure to follow @wescraven on Twitter.
