Behind the Mask(click to see it bigger!)Like Butane stated before, Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (review) deserved a wide theatrical release. This film has the same kick that Scream did a decade ago. It was full of the right kind of energy that would have pulled horror back out of the PG-13 dumpster … but sadly its fate has been sealed and shoved into a DVD case. Reminds me of another great horror film that became a studio bastard. Feast, wasn’t it?

Someone at Anchor Bay seems to know the score, though. That’s why Behind the Mask won’t be resting in peace in an empty box. This gem of a film is receiving a grand DVD release full of the following extras:

  • Widescreen (1.85:1) presentation, enhanced for 16×9 televisions
  • Audio commentary with actors Nathan Baesal, Angela Goethals, Britain Spellings and Ben Pace
  • The Making of Behind The Mask
  • The Casting of Behind The Mask
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes, with optional commentary with director Scott Glosserman
  • Trailer
  • Teaser Trailer
  • Screenplay (DVD-ROM)
  • That’s a lot more special features than I think a lot of us expected. What are you still reading this for?! June 26th is just a few weeks away; go pre-order Behind the Mask through EvilShop!
