Typified by the writings of David J Schow, Jack Ketchum, Poppy Z Brite, and John Skipp & Craig Spector, this “in your face” writing style was very much a product of its time as it referenced Punk music, alternative Fashions, as well as frank depictions of sexuality and drug use.
