Clive Barker Reveals the Release Date for Abarat III: Absolute Midnight

Clive Barker Reveals the Release Date for Abarat III: Absolute MidnightFans of Clive Barker’s Books of Abarat have had a long wait since the 2004 publication of Book #2 in the series, Days of Magic, Nights of War, but the author/artist has revealed when we might see Book #3, Absolute Midnight. Unfortunately it’s still at least a year or so away.

Barker took to his @RealCliveBarker Twitter account to post the following:

  • Hi to all. A lot of people asked for the release date of ABARAT III. Today I was told it will be September of 2011.
  • There are plans to do signings but we won’t have them locked down for a while. As soon I have news.Phil and Sarah will carry it.
  • “Phil and Sarah” of course refers to the keepers of the official Clive Barker website, which is also home to the bit of artwork found below, described as “Clive’s painting for Book 3 of Christopher Carrion’s grandmother, Mater Motley“, as well as this tidbit of info: “Abarat: Absolute Midnight will be black both in sentiment and cover design“.

It’s a long wait to September, 2011, but at least we know that Books #4 and #5, The Dynasty Of Dreamers and The Eternal, will follow (hopefully) soon thereafter.

Great, but still no sign of The Scarlet Gospels, which is finished except for the final revision, and the Third Book of the Art, whose fans have suffered a FAR longer wait than the Abarat whiners. Oh yeah, and what about the promised Galilee II?

Seriously, Clive, I love your stuff, but PLEASE finish what you start! Being a fan has been an exercise in frustration for far too long.

Okay, so where are the movies these books were supposed to spawn?
