San Diego Comic-Con 2010: Producer Dan Tovar Talks Splatterhouse!

So I was able to get my greedy little paws on the upcoming Namco title Splatterhouse while at the San Diego Comic-Con. For this updated retelling of the original 1988 beat-em-up, side-scroller game, Splatterhouse has undergone a serious makeover, including Rick, who has gone from looking like Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th to a cross-breed of Abomination and a Tank from Left 4 Dead.

Curiouser and curiouser, I hiked my way back to Namco’s booth to talk to the game’s producer, Dan Tovar, to find out what exactly gamers would be in store for and of course to get in some quality game time.

In case you’re wondering … The splatter kills are AWESOME. How about a quick look at just some of the mayhem?

Thanks to our sisters at GirlGamer.com for the footage!

Synopsis
Confronted by otherworldly horrific abominations under Dr. West’s control, Rick turns to a mystical sentient mask that promises to give him the power to reunite with his beloved Jennifer. Full of desperation, Rick dons the “Mayan Terror Mask” and is transformed into a raging juggernaut, exemplifying unadulterated violence and destruction to anything that stands in his way.

Splatterhouse will be available in fall 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
