Screamfest LA and Dread Central Host Butterfly: A Grimm Love Story Screening

Butterfly: A Grimm Love StoryScreamfest, Rachel Belofsky’s venerated Los Angeles horror film festival (now in its tenth year, running October 9th thru the 17th at Highland and Hollywood in Hollywood, CA), has historically been on the cutting edge of horror, having in the past introduced to the American public such disturbing and blogged-about features as The Human Centipede, Martyrs and Inside, just to name a few.

In keeping with the ‘Oh my God have you seen that film?’ mind-set, the festival, in conjunction with Dread Central, is hosting a screening of the cannibal flick Butterfly: A Grimm Love Story on August 1st at 7:00 PM in downtown Los Angeles.

Screening at the Downtown Independent Theatre (251 South Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012), the flick is inspired by the true story of German man-eater Armin Meiwes and stars “Felicity” actress Keri Russell as graduate student Katie Armstrong, who in researching cannibal killer Oliver Hagen for her thesis becomes obsessed with her subject and ultimately plunges into a lifestyle similar to Hagen’s. A Q&A will follow hosted by yours truly with director Martin Weisz as well as producer Marco Weber and screenwriter T.S. Faull.

In keeping with the laid-back vibe of the Downtown Independent, beer and wine will be available at the concession stand for imbibing while in your theatre seat, and following the Q&A drinks will be available at the rooftop bar – liquid lubricant for your cannibalistic conversations, which will be sure to follow. Tickets are available for online purchase for only $10 and can be procured here, and you can check out the extended trailer for Butterfly: A Grimm Love Story (aka Grimm Love, review here) below.
