Robert Rodriguez Talks Predators Sequel

Though Predators was met with mixed fan reaction, it was still the best damned Predator flick to come out since the interstellar hunter blew up Los Angeles! Well guess what, kids? It looks like Robert Rodriguez is getting set to take another stab, or slice, or evisceration at getting the flick right!

In an interview with IGN Rodriquez offer the following for fans to chew on —

[The studio] said, ‘Let’s do some other ones. What other story ideas do you have?’” says Rodriguez to IGN at the San Diego Comic-Con. “Because it was like, let’s test out the market with this one. They really wanted it to be pretty contained, pretty scaled-back. They didn’t want to put too many of the ideas into it that we could save for a second one. So we could see what the appetite was, because the bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there.

Rodriguez says he has “an idea” of what he will do with the sequel. The next step, he says, is probably to have other writers come in and pitch different versions of his basic premise, along with new concepts. Keep it right here for more as it comes!

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

since it seems like Predators get ALOT of undeserved Hate from my Fellow Horror Brothers, I say we should get Another Fucking Aliens vs. Predator movie, since many of my horror comrades keep bitching on how predators was “nothing Special”

  • thefyn

That is basically an excuse for how bland Predators was.

How about they test the market with a kick ass mind blowing original script, believable characters and an end of level boss Predator that I don’t think I could take after a few drinks.

Predators was alright but nothing special. I really thought the basic concept was poorly thought out. What is the point of putting the characters on an alien planet if nothing about said planet is alien? No change in gravity, weather, flora or fauna. The characters have to look at the sky to realize it’s not Earth.

Also, Nimrod Antal is a competent director, but nothing more. He’s not inspired so he’s not going to bring an A game to any project. Rodriguez really dropped the ball here; he could have had Neil Marshall, the man who made the best monster movie since ‘The Thing’.

‘Vacancy’ and ‘Armored’ vs. ‘Dog Soldiers’ and ‘The Descent’. This simple comparison says it all and makes me question Rodriguez as a producer.
