Official: Grindhouse Coming Complete on Blu-ray

It’s finally happening, folks! Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s celebration of gory B movies, Grindhouse, will be coming home to Blu-ray high definition this fall, complete and with faux trailers intact!

The early word comes from Hi-Def Digest – On October 5th we’ll be getting the whole enchilada! Both movies! All the fixings! Just like it was in theatres minus the whiny clueless crowd that were complaining about the “condition” of the movies. Some people, I tell ya!

No word yet on if these will be the original movies or the director’s cuts that were previously released on DVD and Blu-ray, but we’ll keep our ears open for you. Exact specs and supplements haven’t been confirmed yet, but the suggested list price for the 2-disc Blu-ray set is only $19.97.

Sweet.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

I hope that this is also coming to dvd.

It would be a stupid move on the Weinsteins part to just make it exclusive on Blu Ray.

    • GJW

Yeah, and we can all rest assured the Weinsteins NEVER make stupid moves. Hehe.

“With the $20 MSRP, I am a bit concerned that it will just be re-releases of the versions already available but one must be positive about such things.”

I read at a couple different sites (including here, I think) that Edgar Wright recently recorded a commentary for his Don’t trailer, so I’m sure we can at least expect commentary on the whole thing.

And frankly, I don’t have a problem buying it bare bones. I just want the whole theatrical cut…

Also, the fact that it’s 2-discs means there should be some significant supplements. I’m guessing that the point of having the whole theatrical cut is that it would be on one disc.

Hmm, I wondered why I suddenly heard a chorus of angels from up above. I’ve got to get this, it simply has to happen. Grindhouse was one of the most joyfully entertaining theater experiences of my life and while the extended cuts are nice, this is the prime rib, baby.
