Jonathan Tucker stars in The RuinsThe first casting news for the upcoming adaptation of Scott B. Smith’s The Ruins (book review) has come down via The Hollywood Reporter this morning.

Jonathan Tucker, he of Pulse and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) fame, has signed on to play the lead in The Ruins, which is being helmed by Bugcrush director Carter Smith. Tucker will take on the role of Jeff, an ambitious premed student whose Mexican vacation goes very, very badly when he convinces his friends to go along on an archaeological expedition to some ruins where evil lies in wait.

That’s the thing about evil, folks; it tends to have a lot of time on its hands. It knows it’ll get you eventually, I guess. Principal photography is set to commence on The Ruins this May in Queensland, Australia so look for more info very soon!
