Several years back, we reported that Shirley Jackson’s 1962 story We Have Always Lived in the Castle was getting a feature adaptation, but nothing seemed to have come of that iteration of the project. Years later, the adaptation is finally on the way, and it’s because of the cast that we’re already in love with it.

THR reports that Crispin Glover will star opposite Sebastian Stan in the Michael Douglas-produced We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and the attached cast also includes Taissa Farmiga (The Final Girls) and Alexandra Daddario (Texas Chainsaw 3D).

The film centers on an isolated family, The Blackwoods, who use rituals and talismans to ward off hostile townspeople. The clan has already lost four members to poisoning when a distant cousin (Stan) arrives to maliciously secure the Blackwood fortune, at which point family secrets are unearthed.

Glover will play Uncle Julian Blackwood, a man who due to extreme gangrene is confined to a wheelchair and morbidly obsesses over his wife and brother’s mysterious deaths. Farmiga and Daddario will play agoraphobic sisters.

Stacie Passon is directing the horror-thriller, which she co-wrote with Mark Kruger.

Filming begins this month in Dublin.
