Huge Synapse update! Some cheesy/good news has come forth from the hallowed halls of Synapse, the company that gave Rock ‘n Roll Nightmare (DVD review) way more love than it deserved.

Now Black Roses on the other hand, John Fasano’s follow-up to RRN, that’s a movie that deserves some attention! Thankfully Fangoria discovered yesterday that, indeed, Synapse is working on a special edition of the film, which is about a pack of demons who hypnotize the public by posing as a rock and roll band. Commentary and a newly remastered print are planned with more features likely. The commentary was the best part about the RRN DVD, so I can’t wait to hear this one!

Home Sick finally on its way homeSynapse prez Don May, Jr. also told Fango that they’re working on an SE of Basket Case 2 with a behind-the-scenes featurette taking the place of a commentary. Apparently director Frank Henenlotter is commentated-out right now; plus he’s (hopefully) too busy working on his next film, Bad Biology, to get to it.

Additionally, the long-delayed debut from Adam Wingard, Home Sick (pictured), is finally seeing the light of day this October with last-minute work being done on both the DVD and the film itself to make it as perfect as can be. They’ve also got plans for new editions of Running Time, the Bruce Campbell thriller that (almost) takes place in real time, and Thou Shalt Not Kill … Except, which may include some never-before-seen Sam Raimi short films if all goes well.

The future is looking pretty good for Synapse and fans of cheesy movies!
