Motion Picture Purgatory: Cannibal Girls

A few years before he directed the films for which he’s best known like Meatballs, Stripes and Ghost Busters, Ivan Reitman tried his hand at spoofing the horror genre with a little flick called Cannibal Girls, which is the topic of this week’s Motion Picture Purgatory.

Synopsis:
A young couple spend the night in a restaurant, only to find out that it is haunted by three dead women who hunger for human flesh. This cult movie, which stars Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin, is known for the ‘warning bell’ gimmick, which rang in theatres to warn the more squeamish members of the audience for impending gory scenes.

Thanks to the awesome folks at Shout! Factory, come October 26th you can procure your own copy of this little gem from 1973.
