One of the great things about working for Dread Central is that it forces me to be up-to-speed on everything happening within our beloved genre. According to Variety Disney will release the film, which is directed by Troy Nixey, domestically on January 21, 2011, through its Miramax arm.
The story centers on a young girl, portrayed by Bailee Madison, who’s sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.
We’re still quite a ways away from this one, which means that you’ve got plenty of time to seek out the original before the remake breaks, right? If you haven’t seen it, dig the trailer below before giving it a whirl. You don’t be disappointed.
