Remember that bizarre 1977 movie Death Bed about a bed that literally ate anyone who dared sleep on it? It’s getting something of a pseudo remake in the form of Black Fawn Films’ Bed of the Dead (review), and in the wake of its Fantasia premiere comes a clip that shows the bed in action. Check it out along with some new Canadian distribution info.

Bed of the Dead was written and directed by Jeff Maher and produced by Black Fawn Films in association with Breakthrough Entertainment. Hot off its sold-out world premiere at this year’s Fantasia Film Festival, United Front Entertainment and Black Fawn Distribution have acquired the Canadian digital and home entertainment rights for the nightmare-inducing horror feature. The acquisition continues the partnership among United Front, Black Fawn, and Breakthrough. The three Canadian companies recently agreed to release the upcoming body horror feature Bite later this year with Bed of the Dead to follow.

The film stars stars Colin Price (Late Night Double Feature), Alysa King (Berkshire County), Gwenlyn Cumyn (TV’s “All for One”), Dennis Andres (Lady Psycho Killer), and George Krissa; it features another haunting soundtrack from composer Steph Copeland.

Release dates will be announced shortly.

Synopsis:
Four twenty-somethings find themselves stuck on a haunted antique bed where leaving means suffering a gruesome death. Plagued with frightening hallucinations, they must figure out the bed’s secrets before they are ultimately picked off one by one.
