Night of the Living Dead Gets Reanimated – and It’s VERY Cool!

Night of the Living Dead Gets ReanimatedGeorge A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is, of course, one of the most seminal horror films ever, having inspired countless filmmakers, artists and musicians over the years. Now some of those folks are looking to give back to the greatest zombie film ever made.

Wild Eye Releasing and MVD Visual will be releasing Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated on DVD in North America on July 27th. What you’ll be getting here is a wonderfully macabre presentation of nearly 150 artists paying tribute to the film through their own unique styles:

With work ranging from oil paintings to comic illustrations and sock puppets to CGI and stop-motion, NOTLD:R not only pays the respect due to this most important work in horror history but encourages viewers to experience the film in a brand new light that bursts with the humor and horror of a new generation of artists.

“This DVD is like a portable horror or zombie convention,” observes Wild Eye’s Rob Hauschild. “We wanted to recreate the experience that fans have had around the country, where they’ve enjoyed NOTLD:R at film fests, on horror host TV shows, at zombie-themed events, and at pop culture gatherings like the upcoming screening during Comic-Con’s opening night.”

The disc’s over two hours of bonus features include:

• Special horror host introduction from Count Gore De Vol
• Commentary with curator horror author Jonathan Maberry
• “Making of NOTLD:R” commentary track
• NOTLD:R artist call-in commentaries
• Coloring Book contest entries
• Alternate/deleted scenes
• Short films
• Horror comics and related horror art
• Trailers
• Behind the Scenes: Animation Processes
• The Zombie Encounter Panel discussion video
• “Night of the Living Box Art” video
• and more…

Catch it at San Diego Comic-Con 2010 on Thursday, July 22nd, at 9:30 pm in Room 5AB, and make sure to say for the panel with some of the contributing artists!
