So what’s next for the director of the successful new version of The Crazies in the field of horror? Why, what’s next for everyone nowadays of course — a comic to film adaptation!

After getting rolling on remakes of Escape from New York and Flash Gordon, according to FEARnet the next time Eisner dips his toe in our bloodied waters will be for an adaptation of Mark Wheatley’s Dracula themed comic book, Blood of the Innocent, co-written by writer Rickey Shanklin with art by Marc Hempel and Wheatley.

He’s trying to make ‘Blood of the Innocent’ the picture he does after Escape [from New York],” Wheatley tells the site. “The writer, Bill Marsilii, has been working on the pitch now for almost a year. But Breck came on board, I think, back in February.” The story couldn’t be more simple: “It’s Dracula versus Jack the Ripper…That’s it. That’s the whole concept.
