Top 10 Horror Movies You Have to See in 2017

5) Mom and Dad
Nic Cage might be my least favorite actor on the planet (Brendan Fraser serves as serious competition for that dishonorable distinction). He’s overacted his way through so many films it’s bewildering. But what is even more bewildering is the fact that I enjoy a lot of the guy’s flicks. From Pay the Ghost to Drive Angry to 8MM, he’s been a part of some serious winners. Mom and Dad looks like another one. Director Brian Taylor will soon show us what it’s like to be a child desperately aiming to avoid murderous parents, and we’ll be here to suck that concept up. It’s also not a sequel, prequel, remake, or reboot, which earns big points over here.

4) Friday the 13th
Most of us probably aren’t even certain of why we want to see the 77th Friday the 13th film… but we do. There looks to be some legitimate talent behind the scenes and the idea of taking viewers back in time to meet a much younger Jason sounds admittedly awesome. Anything can happen with this franchise, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for something reinvigorating and special. And we’re hoping for a Sleeping Bag Slam, even if we have seen it a few times already.

3) Stephen King’s It
This isn’t the first time Stephen King’s It will be treated to a live action experience. Back in 1990 we saw a television mini-series air, and after too much talking to track, we’ll finally see the story told on the big screen, without all the pesky censorship that accompanies any network TV related project. Furthermore, with Bill Skarsgård tapped to play Pennywise, our chances of an enjoyable feature skyrocket. I never would have personally thought it, but Skarsgård may end up being the perfect Pennywise. We find out on September 8th.

2) Stephen King’s The Dark Tower
Another massive fan favorite is Stephen King’s endless epic tale The Dark Tower. King fans will cite the series as a whole (is King really done with it?) as one of their favorite King stories, and millions – literally – have been calling for a quality big screen adaptation for a great number of years. Well, it’s coming your way, and Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey appearing opposite one another has all the makings of movie greatness. You don’t get much better than Elba or McConaughey, and I’m eager to see the two face off. We’re genuinely thrilled to see The Dark Tower hit theaters.

1) Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral
Above and beyond all others, there rests a quiet little production known as Jeepers Creepers 3. The production has collided with a number of roadblocks already, but director Victor Salva has managed to give us two highly entertaining franchise features thus far. He’s been inside of this territory already, and we expect him to hit his 2017 target, regardless of those motioning to have the production cancelled. Cathedral will see the return of Trish, who survived a harrowing encounter with The Creeper in the first franchise pic.
