The wondrous thing about comics is that they can literally do anything and go anywhere. There have been many crossover projects over the years in the illustrated world, but this latest one will own the hearts of horror fans everywhere … even if it is just a single page.
Over on the Comics Alliance website you’ll find a killer one-pager from our own Scott Allie and Tim Seeley titled Dexter vs. Jason vs. Hack/Slash. We caught up with Allie to discuss the comic’s genesis, which was made purely out of love for the franchises.
It’s weird, at my age, in my profession, doing fanfic,” says Allie. “I want a Dexter comic. I want to write it. When I was a kid, like every comics fan, I did my own comics, of Terminator, Batman, my own characters. I love Tim’s characters in Hack/Slash, and, as inappropriate as it is for Dexter himself, I loved the idea of a crossover. If I were to do a licensed Dexter comic, this wouldn’t be appropriate. My mind doesn’t often go to places like this—I don’t think about what would happen if Hellboy met Etrigan. I thought it’d be funny to see their different reactions to a worthy adversary, and who better than Jason? (Really—who?) So fortunately I have really talented friends just as much in love with doing comics as I am, so we banged this thing out for shits and giggles. And now I have my Dexter comic. And it’s one page.”
