Official Domestic One-Sheet: Neil Marshall’s Centurion

Finally the American one-sheet for Neil Marshall’s latest foray into the world of swords and dismemberment, Centurion, has reared its head, and it’s pretty damned sexy in a very violent way!

Based on the legend of the Ninth Legion, an army of 3,000 unstoppable Roman warriors who vanished without a trace, Centurion is the tale of their vicious conflict with a murderous adversary, the Picts. Quintus Dias (Michael Fassbender), a Roman corporal, is taken hostage by the Pict King, Gorlacon, and the Ninth are charged with bringing him home and ending Pict domination of Britain. Led by General Virilus (Dominic West) and guided by a Pict prisoner and warrior woman named Etain (Olga Kurylenko), the army marches towards enemy territory and finds itself in the midst of a perilous battle with a mysterious foe.

This latest action thriller has been acquired by Magnet for release this summer. More soon!

Caught a late night showing of this film at SIFFF (Seattle International Film Fest) last week. The poster does not do the film justice. It’s a harrowing story. What Marshall did in The Descent with a claustrophobic setting, he does with open mountainous terrain. The cinematography is georgous and the violent action delivers over and over. You will not grow tired of seeing someones head seperate from it’s body, I assure you. The story is excellent and everyones motivation is sound. Highly recommended.

Love everything Marshall has done so far, and I really respect the breadth of variety in his choices. So far, we have an action-horror werewolf feature, an intense, claustrophobic creature feature, an over-the-top post-apocalyptic action flick, and now a Roman-age sword-battle epic. Sure, they’re all action-oriented, but very different in tone, atmosphere, and style. I can’t imagine him missing on this one. The teaser looked incredible.

Please, Magnet, get this out theatrically.

I agree. I hope he does a western at some point. I like that he isn’t interested in sequels but seriously if a Dog Soldiers 2 must happen then I sure hope he gets behind the camera or we’ll have another Descent 2 on our hands although Creepy would love that.

That’s a cool poster and the movie has been getting some good reviews. I’m highly anticipating it.

  • Terminal

Marshall has yet to let me down, so I’m there.

This is in my top 3 most anticipated movies for this year.

I hope Magnet manages to get it a full theatrical release.
