Final Destination 5 Director Named!

For weeks and weeks we’ve been talking and of course speculating on who was gonna be the main man to help get the Final Destination franchise back on track. Well the wait is now over …

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog Steven Quale, the second unit director for Avatar, has been tapped to helm Final Destination 5, the latest installment in New Line’s horror franchise.

Quale will be working from a script by horror’s busiest scribe Eric Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing). Craig Perry is once again back as producer, and the project is on schedule for its September 13th start date in Vancouver.

Look for Final Destination 5 to be in theatres on August 26th, 2011.

I have high hopes but it’s all in the screenwriting. Make those kills ingenious.

Somewhere David Seltzer-the man who wrote The Omen, which the Final Destination films clearly plagiarized for their MO- is screaming in agony.

Great news. I was really afraid this movie was going to suck.

Bet you it still does. Just because a director can handle the technical aspects of a film doesn’t mean he can tell a story well.

But it also needs to start with a good screenplay too. So hopefully him writing the NOES remake is not an indication of how this will be.

Vanvance1 I was being sarcastic. I have every expectation that this movie will be as god awful and mind numbingly stupid as the previous films.

Whoops, sorry dude, I was asleep at the comment wheel.

I think the franchise could be resuscitated if instead of humans all the victims were friendly Disney-esque anthropomorphic animals.

Then the twist ending could be that death is MAN! DOM DOM DOM!

Haha like a more violent Bambi. I can dig it.
